Self-preferencing and competition of hybrid sales platforms (HYBRID)

For our project "Self-preferencing and competition of hybrid sales platforms (HYBRID)" funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR), we are looking for a

Researcher in digital economics (PhD or Postdoc).

The position provides the opportunity to focus very strongly on research in a very active environment. The team has acquired and self-collected data sets which can be used by the applicants for their thesis. The focus of the current position is to work empirically on studying the functioning and implications of the business model of hybrid sales platform such as Amazon or Walmart, using quantitative analyses. One PhD student works already on this project and on related topics.

The earliest starting date is October 2021 and a later entry is possible. The monthly salary (net after taxes) is about 1,600 euros for a PhD student or about 2,500 euros for a postdoc, with the possibility to obtain a complement for extra activities such as teaching. Social security and professional training are provided. Funding is available to present your research at international conferences and workshops. The position will be based at the campus of Telecom Paris in Palaiseau, in the direct neighborhood of École Polytechnique and ENSAE.

Your profile

Applicants should have a strong interest in digital platforms from the perspective of industrial organization, and have an empirical focus (econometrics, data science). They should aim at developing programming skills and have an interest in the evaluation of internet data. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is not essential.

Applicants for doing a PhD should have successfully completed a Master's degree in economics, socio/economic data science or related disciplines, or expect completion at the end of the year 2021. Similarly, applicants for doing a PostDoc should finish their PhD at the end of this year, and have an empirical background.
